Creating a morning routine has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, especially when creating a perfect fall day.
I totally notice a shift in my mental state from organized to chaotic that sticks with me throughout the day on mornings where I skip the morning routine.
I’m the type that used to feel anxious a lot, like I always had to be working on something productive. I’d say I still feel the urge to always be working on something productive.
I used to strive to wake up at 5am and go straight to the desk so I could start working. It was like I could never turn it off.
Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s not always about always working. It’s more about focused work during certain times and dedicated time to rest and rejuvenate.
Getting into the right state of mind every morning helps me get into the optimal state.
Here’s how I prefer to spend my morning routines.
I like to wake up without an alarm. This is how I know my body is operating in its optimal state because it wakes itself up when ready.
No outside force from myself through an alarm clock.
After waking up, I go downstairs where Randall will meet me, purring, at his box. I pet him for a few minutes and then make my way around the house and get the natural light filling our box.
The natural light in the mornings is so dreamy!
I then stretch for a bit and work off the grogginess. I spend a lot of time sitting at the desk all day so this helps combat it. I love the feeling of stretching too.
After getting a good stretch in, I’m ready to sweat.
Going to jiu jitsu has been the best addition to my morning routine.
I used to be an afternoon sweat type of person to break up the day, but I now enjoy morning workouts much more.
After the sweat, I am ready for a cold shower to continue the perfect fall day.
The cold shower is the most rejuvenating part of the morning routine. Plus I challenge myself everyday to accomplish something that is stressful.
Now that I’m squeaky clean, I’m ready to wake Lucia and get some puppy love.
After working through my morning routine (at a leisurely pace), I’m ready to sit at the desk and get to work.
Today was a bit different. It was a perfect fall day that happened to fall on a Saturday morning. So no sitting at the desk required!
On a perfect day, after working through the morning routine, I love spending quality time with Melissa, enjoying puppy love, and gardening.
Gardening has given me a way to enjoy the great outdoors and to be present creating and caring for life that we can’t really see or measure.
It is so rewarding!
