Life definitely changes! Our puppy has tested our relationship and really emphasized the importance of communicating to build a healthy relationship. Everything from who’s taking her out in the middle of the night to what kind of puppy do we want to raise. Things we tried to plan before getting a puppy and things that there’s no way to plan for.
Overall getting a puppy has been one of the best decisions we’ve made.
I don’t know if anyone actually said that but we definitely under estimated just how hard it is to raise a puppy. Especially when life changes from the two of us and a cat to having a crazy ball of energy running around the place.
Oh yea, did we mention she’s a crocodile too? Yes she chomps on EVERYTHING from the door stops to the bed frame….
Puppies are the best form of birth control
We started to have baby fever a but but introducing a puppy vizsla into the mix changes the cards for us. We now want to really enjoy life as just the two of us and our crazy pets for as long as we can!
With a puppy being this life changing, we can’t imagine just how hard it is for parents with newborns. Seriously hats off to all the parents out there!
One thing has been emphasized even more by having a puppy!
Communication is the most important thing we can do to get through this together. She’s being a wild banshee crocodile and I’m sick of following her around….please help!!
Melissa just said to me “I NEED SOME ALONE TIME!!”
It’s seriously no joke just how important the communication is and not burying emotions or burden feelings.
Who’s going to take the dog out at night? What kind of puppy do we want to raise? What happens when she’s not listening? How do we get her to stop barking or whining? Are we going to crate train our puppy? We had an accident…now what?
Finding a new routine has been tough too.
Especially when we’re such creatures of habit.
It’s taken about 3 weeks to start to find a routine that works for the dog and potentially drains her energy so we can sleep through the night. Not sleeping through the night is easily the hardest part of the puppy. But once we got over that hump its definitely gotten better.
Getting a vizsla puppy has been one of the best decisions we’ve made.
Even though we have a pet crocodile, are forced to change our routines, and just need some alone time, we adapt. Life has definitely felt more full having a little puppy in the house. It’s an additional reminder to be present to the moment and what true unconditional love and play is like.
Something we always want alive in our household.
Lucia brings that for sure.
